He will share how Harvest USA can equip your church or ministry to care well for those affected by sexual brokenness, and how you can get involved!

More on Church Planting in the EPC: The Evangelical Presbyterian Church desires to launch a movement of church planting through creating a community among our planters. This community of planters will be coached, provided cohorts and biannual in-person training in order to equip and battle isolation. We have identified strategic locations for plants and are actively recruiting for planters and church planting residencies.

Student Council invites the whole seminary to join us for our annual Christmas celebration! Come adorned in your favorite festive garb and bring your favorite holiday dessert to share. We'll sing a few Christmas carols and hymns in front of the Community Center as we watch the lighting of the Covenant Christmas Tree, then gather to eat some goodies together and celebrate the Lord and the end of the year.

Speaker: Laura Story, renowned worship leader, Christian recording artist, Covenant Seminary alumna, and author of the books So Long, Normal; When God Doesn’t Fix It; and I Give Up. Laura serves as Executive Director of Worship Environments and Resources at Perimeter Church (PCA) in Atlanta, GA. Laura wrote the popular worship songs “Indescribable,” “Mighty to Save,” and “Blessings," and recently released a new single: “Come Unto Jesus." 

In this special Ministry Lunch, Laura will share with us her story of God’s work in her life as well as her expertise on the topic of organizing, planning, and leading worship music. We'll have a time of Q & A—so bring your questions!

The Scribe Conversation Series seeks to facilitate community dialogue around using reading and writing as aids to our spiritual formation.

Rev. Stiller will present material from his DMin dissertation titled “A Picture Set Us Free: Preaching to the Imagination in a Secular Age.” One of the biggest challenges to preaching the Christian faith in the modern West is a growing inability to make sense of the basic categories that comprise a Christian worldview. Drawing on the work of Charles Taylor, C.S. Lewis, J.R.R. Tolkien, and others, the dissertation explores how preachers engage the imagination during sermons to help people in the closed or open immanent frame shift to an open transcendent frame.

Speaker: Rev. John Medlock, VP of People & Culture, Geneva Benefits Group (PCA)

What does it take for church leaders to thrive on the long road of ministry? Join us as Rev. Medlock looks at the factors that influence ministerial wellbeing generally, along with insights from his research into the wellbeing of PCA pastors. Along the way, he will discuss three key tensions pastors face and offer some suggestions for small steps that can make a big difference in a pastor’s overall wellbeing.

Travis was on campus staff with The Navigators for many years, where he and Dean of Students Mark McElmurry met and became friends. He came to Covenant in 1999 to get his MAC and MATS degrees. He is a gifted communicator and longs to see others grasp the goodness of God.
